"I had six headlining shows tues-sun with a flight every day and some really rough sleep schedules. I was worried about my voice but thanks to your teachings my voice on Sunday night was just as strong if not stronger than it was on Tuesday. Thanks so much man. "

“The way it was after your lesson…that was game-changing because there are certain things—the elasticity on my vocal cords that I haven’t had for like 6 years. I was singing the next three days after our lesson and I was like ‘holy shiznit’ that was like the best I’ve gotten to sing in years!”

Hi, I’m Daniel Weiskopf, founder of Waking Voice

I help singers and speakers eliminate unnecessary effort and develop a voice that works with them—not against them.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve worked with voices across the world—from the U.S. to Europe and Asia—helping people of all levels build coordination, consistency, and ease in their sound.

What I’ve found is this:

Most vocal struggles aren’t caused by a lack of talent or strength.

They come from misunderstanding how the voice actually works—and developing habits that create unnecessary effort.

At Waking Voice, my approach is built on a simple principle:

👉 Phonation is phonation.
There isn’t one system for speaking and another for singing—only more or less efficient coordination.

My work combines principles influenced by
Seth Riggs’ Speech Level Singing and
E. Herbert Cesari’s “Voice of the Mind,”
along with a strong focus on effort awareness, habit formation, and psychological patterns in voice use.

For a long time, I avoided creating online courses because my teaching is highly individualized.

But I realized something important:

If people can learn to recognize and interrupt their own vocal habits, they can start making real progress—even outside of lessons.

That’s what these courses are designed to do.

They give you the same core tools I use in one-on-one sessions, so you can:

  • Identify what your voice is doing
  • Reduce unnecessary effort
  • Build healthier coordination

These courses are designed for all experience levels and can stand alone or complement private coaching.

Note: If you are recovering from vocal injury or surgery, you should work directly with a qualified specialist.

We all have a voice that can function with more ease, clarity, and consistency.

This is where you start learning how to access it.
